Welcome to Basel

Basel lies in the heart of Europe, on both banks of the Rhine. The city is situated at the border triangle where Germany, France and Switzerland meet.

By plane

The main entry points for international flights are Zürich and Basel.

The EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse is 5 km outside the city center and can be easily reached by bus from the main Basel SBB railway station.

From Zürich Airport there are direct trains to Basel at four minutes past the hour. Basel can otherwise be reached by changing trains at Zürich SBB main station. The journey time is approx. 1 h 20 min.

By train

Trains are a popular and convenient way to travel in Switzerland. The Swiss SBB train station, the French SNCF station and the German Badischer station are all in the immediate vicinity of the city centre.

By car

An excellent network of freeways links Basel to the airports and most of the important centers of Switzerland and abroad. Parking fees in Basel, however, are rather expensive!
